You want to find a zone where you are a getting a feel-good stretch without over pulling or forcing. That position will vary person-to-person and day-to-day due to different factors including naturally varying muscle lengths in each individual.
Below are all examples of the same hamstring stretch. The goal is a gentle release of tension in the hamstrings, not a particular range of motion.
Please never work through pain or force a stretch.
